Grodno Oblast seeks to develop trade and investment cooperation with Lanzhou

GRODNO 22 May (BelTA) – Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov tasked the regional administration to prepare proposals on trade and investment cooperation with the Chinese city of Lanzhou, BelTA has learned. Cooperation with China is of strategic importance for all sectors, Vladimir Kravtsov said at the session of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee on 18 May. At the Belarus-China business forum in Minsk, Grodno Oblast signed two agreements on twinning relations between Grodno and Longnan city of Gansu Province, and an additional agreement on deepening cooperation with the Chinese Province of Gansu.

The first agreement on cooperation with the Chinese province was signed in 2010. However, it existed on paper only. Now it is time to take action, said the Governor. The next step will be the participation of Grodno Oblast in the international trade fair in Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province. The Governor tasked to define the format of participation in the event. In addition, the regional administration will send its representatives who will present concrete proposals on trade and investment cooperation.

In turn, the Gansu representatives will be invited to participate in the 17th fair Euroregion Neman 2015 which will be held in Grodno in September. Representatives of China participated in the expo last year.

According to Vladimir Kravtsov, simultaneously with economic cooperation there is a need to develop social toes in the field of higher education, medicine, and so on.
