New weapons for Belarusian army prioritized

LIDA, 30 April (BelTA) – Belarus pays close attention to rearming the army with new weapons, BelTA learned from Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov on 27 April.

According to the official, in modern conditions Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and the government pay the closest kind of attention to reequipping the army with new types of hardware. For example, a battery of the 120th air defense missile brigade has been rearmed with the state-of-the-art system Tor-M2. "And today the 116th guards assault airbase received four Russian combat and training aircraft Yak-130. The aircraft boast the highest degree of reliability and a very broad range of applications," said Andrei Ravkov.

The Belarusian Defense Minister was confident that military technical cooperation with Russia will stay as dynamic and versatile as it is now.

BelTA reported earlier that a solemn ceremony to hand over four new training and combat aircraft Yak-130 to personnel of the 116th guards assault airbase took place at the Lida airfield on 27 April. The four new aircraft will make up an independent wing as part of the airbase.
