Almost 8m tonnes of grain harvested in Belarus

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested 7.909 million tonnes of grain, BelTA learned from the updates posted by the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 6 September, Minsk Oblast harvested almost 2 million tonnes of grain, Grodno Oblast over 1.5 million tonnes, Brest Oblast over 1.3 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast over 1 million tonnes, and Gomel Oblast over 900,000 tonnes. The average yield was 37.1 centners per hectare (in 2019, the yield as of the same date was 31.1 centners per hectare).

Grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize) were harvested on the area of 2.110 million hectares, or 96.2% of the plan. Brest Oblast cropped 99.4% (338,100 hectares), Minsk Oblast also harvested 99.4% (486,200 hectares), Grodno Oblast has harvested 99.3% of the plan (320,300 hectares), Gomel Oblast harvested 97.9% of the area (334,500 hectares), Mogilev Oblast gathered 91.5% (304,100 hectares), Vitebsk Oblast harvested 89.2% (327,200 hectares). Harvesting of buckwheat and millet is also in full swing, with 33.8% and 39.8% of the area under these crops already harvested.

Flax was harvested on the area of 47,300 hectares (98.1% of the area under this crop).

Some 802,100 tonnes of hay (79.4% of the plan), 13.024 million tonnes of haylage (103.4%) and 2.720 tonnes of silage (14.2%) were stocked. In total, there are plans to procure 9.3 million tonnes of fodder units of grass feed, most of them in Minsk Oblast and Brest Oblast. By this time, 50.5% of the plan has been fulfilled.
